Complexan (English spelling)

A general term for aminopolycarboxylic acids. Also called complexon. Since it has at least one -N(CH 2 COOH) 2 , it coordinates with the N of the amine and the O of the carboxyl group, and also forms a chelate, so it has strong coordination properties with various metal ions and forms very stable chelate compounds with many metal ions. Examples include nitrilotriacetic acid N(CH 2 COOH) 3 (abbreviated as NTA, H 3 nta), ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (HOOCCH 2 ) 2 NCH 2 CH 2 N(CH 2 COOH) 2 (abbreviated as EDTA, H 4 edta), and diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (HOOCCH 2 ) 2 NCH 2 CH 2 N(CH 2 COOH)CH 2 CH 2 N(CH 2 COOH) 2 (abbreviated as DTPA, H 5 dtpa). アミノポリカルボン酸類の総称。コンプレキソンcomplexonともいう。少なくとも一つの－N(CH2COOH)2をもっているので，アミンのNとカルボキシル基のOとで配位し，しかもキレートを生成するため，各種金属イオンに対する配位性が強く，多くの金属イオンときわめて安定なキレート化合物をつくる。たとえばニトリロ三酢酸N(CH2COOH)3(略号NTA,H3nta)，エチレンジアミン四酢酸(HOOCCH2)2NCH2CH2N(CH2COOH)2(略号EDTA,H4edta)，ジエチレントリアミン五酢酸(HOOCCH2)2NCH2CH2N(CH2COOH)CH2CH2N(CH2COOH)2(略号DTPA,H5dtpa)などがそうである。
