A general term for flatworms belonging to the Planarian family. All are freshwater creatures and can be found crawling on the bottoms of rivers, ponds, and other areas. Their bodies are long and slender, measuring 1-3.5cm. They have a pair of short antennae on their head, behind which are one or many eyespots. They lay egg capsules about 2mm in diameter, from which 10-20 larvae hatch. They have an excellent regenerative ability, so they are used in regeneration experiments.
