A town in Igu District, in the southern part of Miyagi Prefecture, bordering Fukushima Prefecture. Marumori, the main settlement on the right bank of the Abukuma River, developed as a river port for the Date Domain during the Edo Period, but fell into decline after it was moved off the Tohoku Main Line. Rice and dairy farming are the main industries, and the town also produces vegetables and shiitake mushrooms. The Abukuma Express runs through the town. 宮城県南部,福島県に接する伊具郡の町。阿武隈(あぶくま)川右岸の主集落丸森は江戸時代には伊達(だて)藩の河港として発達したが,東北本線からはずれたため衰えた。稲作,酪農を主体とし,野菜,シイタケなども産する。阿武隈急行が通じる。東日本大震災で,町内において被害が発生。273.30km2。1万5501人(2010)。
