A type of container for carrying arrows. In the Todaiji Temple Donations Book, yuki and yanaghi are listed side by side to distinguish between them. Applying this to relics, quiver-type containers are called tsutsumi and quiver-type containers are called yanaguhi, a term used only in Japan. In China, yanaguhi refers to quiver-type containers such as those found on the statue of Qiu Xinggong in the Liuzhun Stone Statues of the Zhaoling Mausoleum (636) in Xi'an and the stone soldier statues excavated from the tomb of Yang Sixu (740). If we follow the conventional wisdom and call yanaguhi containers yanaguhi, then relics from the Nara period are of the shape of a wooden or bamboo slat, 33-45 cm long, and there are two types: a narrow one about 12 cm wide and a wide one up to 30 cm wide.
