An old town in Hikawa District, Shimane Prefecture, facing the Sea of Japan. It borders Izumo City to the west and is served by the San-in Main Line. In addition to rice cultivation, grapes and other fruits are cultivated, and the town produces a lot of tulips. The area around Lake Jinzai on the eastern edge is a scenic spot. In March 2005, it was incorporated into Izumo City along with Hirata City, Sada Town, Taki Town, and Taisha Town in Hikawa District. 22.26 km2 . 5,860 people (2003).
