...The name of a place in the eastern part of Musashino City, Tokyo. The origin of the place name is that the Soto sect's Kichijoji temple, which was located near Kanda Suidobashi, was relocated to Komagome following a fire the year after the Great Fire of Meireki (1657). The area in front of the temple was ordered to be a firebreak, and new land was developed in Musashino (Kichijoji Shinden). The road network in the surrounding area still retains the rectangular land divisions. *Some of the terminology that refers to "Kichijoji Shinden" is listed below.
