A Christian leader in China. His pen name was Shuhai. After graduating from Peiping Tax School, he worked at the customs office in Guangzhou and Yingkou. In 1924 he went to the United States to study at Columbia University and Union Theological Seminary, and in 1927 he returned to China and became general secretary of the All-China Young People's Church. In 1949 he became a member of the Standing Committee of the All-China Young People's Federation. From 1952 onwards, he represented China at the Asia-Pacific Regional Peace Preparatory Conference in Beijing, the World Peace Council in Vienna, the World Peace Council in Stockholm, the World Peace Conference in Helsinki, and the World Peace Council in Sweden. At the Second National People's Congress in 1959, he spoke about "American imperialism's aggressive activities using Christianity," and was a member of the Presiding Delegation to the Second National People's Congress in 1960. He was a representative for Shanghai to the Third National People's Congress in 1964, and a member of the Standing Committee of the same Congress in 1965. His main work is No One Can See Through the Emperor (1943).

中国のキリスト教指導者。字は叔海。北平税務学校卒業後,広州,営口の税関に勤務。 1924年アメリカに渡りコロンビア大学,ユニオン神学校に学び,27年帰国して中華全国キリスト教青年教会総幹事。 49年中華全国青年連合会常務委員。 52年以降,北京のアジア太平洋地域平和準備大会,ウィーンの世界平和評議会,ストックホルムの世界平和評議会,ヘルシンキの世界平和大会,スウェーデンの世界平和評議会などに中国代表として出席,59年の第2期全国人民代表大会で,「アメリカ帝国主義のキリスト教を利用した侵略活動」について発言,60年の第2期全国人民代表大会主席団団員。 64年第3期全国人民代表大会上海市代表,65年同大会常務委員会委員。主著『没有人看見過上帝』 (1943) 。
