Phthalocyanine is an organic pigment with a unique structure. When copper is used as the central metal, it is called copper phthalocyanine, which is a blue pigment, and when the aromatic nucleus surrounding copper phthalocyanine is polychlorinated, it is called phthalocyanine green, which is an important green pigment. (Chemical formula) Both have vivid colors and excellent light, water, chemical and heat resistance, and are used in a wide range of coloring materials. Japan is the world's largest producer and exporter of phthalocyanine pigments.

フタロシアニンと呼ばれる特有の構造をもつ有機顔料で，中心金属として銅をもつものが銅フタロシアニンと呼ばれる青色顔料で，銅フタロシアニンの周囲の芳香核をポリクロル化したものはフタロシアニングリーンと呼ばれ，緑色顔料として重要である。(化学式)いずれも色が鮮明で，耐光性，耐水性，耐薬品性，耐熱性などが優れ，それらの色材としての使用範囲も非常に広い。日本はフタロシアニン顔料については世界最大の生産国，輸出国である。
