A civil rights journalist in the early Meiji period. He was the second son of Ogasawara Chushiro, an artillery expert from Miyazu Domain in Tango Province (Kyoto Prefecture). His pen name was Angaido. He traveled to Kyoto to study Chinese classics. In 1872 (Meiji 5), he became an elementary school teacher in Kyoto Prefecture, but returned home in 1875 and founded Tenkyo Gijuku. In 1876, he married Komuro Nobuo's eldest daughter, Sachiko, and took the surname Komuro. In 1889, he joined the Osaka Nippo newspaper. He then worked hard for the civil rights movement as a secretary for the Constitutional Party and an employee of the Jiyu Shimbun newspaper, while also working to promote peasant uprising leaders, and published works such as Toyo Minken Hyakukaden (1883). He also wrote political novels. At the end of 1882, he accompanied Inoue Kaoru to Korea, but died of illness on his way back to Japan the following year. <References> Quarterly "Hometown and Art" No. 84 (Komuro Shinsuke Memorial Issue)

明治前期の民権派ジャーナリスト。丹後国(京都府)宮津藩の砲術家小笠原忠四郎の次男。号は案外堂。京都に遊学し漢学を学ぶ。明治5(1872)年京都府の小学教員となるが,8年帰郷して天橋義塾を設立。9年小室信夫の長女幸子と結婚。小室姓になる。12年『大阪日報』に入社。次いで立憲政党幹事,自由新聞社員として民権運動に尽力するかたわら,百姓一揆指導者のほりおこしに取り組み,『東洋民権百家伝』(1883)などを刊行。また政治小説も執筆した。17年末,井上馨に随行して朝鮮に赴くが翌年帰国中に病死。<参考文献>季刊『郷土と美術』84号(小室信介紀念号)
