Also known as Mt. Kobushin. A mountain in the Chichibu Mountains, located on the border of Yamanashi (Kai), Saitama (Musashi), and Nagano (Shinano). 2,475 meters above sea level. Located at the intersection of the main ridge of the Chichibu Mountains, which stretches from Mt. Kinpu to Mt. Kumotori, and the ridge that runs south from Gunma Prefecture. The mountain is made of granite, but the summit is made of diabase and andesite that runs through the granite. It is known for its open view from the summit and the virgin forest of rhododendrons, hemlocks, and firs nearby. In addition to the traverse route of the main ridge, there is also a route that climbs the stream from Higashizawa, upstream of the Fuefuki River on the south side. This valley is famous but not common, and can be reached by climbing the Towatari Ridge, Keikan Ridge, or the Chikuma Forest Road from the Nagano Prefecture side. It is known for its beautiful fresh greenery and autumn leaves, and for being the center of Chichibu. 甲武信岳ともいう。山梨(甲斐(かい))・埼玉(武蔵(むさし))・長野(信濃(しなの))の県境に位置する秩父山地(ちちぶさんち)の山。標高2475メートル。金峰(きんぷ)山から雲取山までのいわゆる秩父山地の主脈と、群馬県方面から南下する尾根の交わる部分に位置する。山体は花崗(かこう)岩であるが、山頂はこの花崗岩を貫いている玢(ひん)岩や安山岩からなる。山頂の開けた展望と付近のシャクナゲ、ツガ、モミの原生林で知られる。登山路は、主脈の縦走路のほかに、南側の笛吹(ふえふき)川の上流、東沢から沢を登るルートがある。この沢は有名ではあるが一般的でなく、戸渡(とわたり)尾根あるいは鶏冠(けいかん)尾根、長野県側からは千曲(ちくま)林道を登ることもできる。新緑と紅葉時が美しく、秩父の中心ということでも親しまれている。 [吉村 稔] 出典 小学館 日本大百科全書(ニッポニカ)日本大百科全書(ニッポニカ)について 情報 | 凡例 |
