〘Noun〙 One of the prisons of the Edo Shogunate. It was located in Rokkaku in Kyoto and Kodenmacho Prison in Edo. It was a solitary cell for untried hatamoto prisoners with a stipend of 500 koku or less and who had an audience with the shogun or higher. Women from families with an audience with the shogun or higher, as well as monks and priests, were also held there depending on their rank. → Agariya.
