Kotoba no yachimata - The street of words

Japanese: 詞八衢 - ことばのやちまた

Written by Motoori Shuntei. 2 volumes. Published in Bunka 3 (1806). Published in Bunka 5 (1807). A study of conjugation. The conjugation types are divided into 4th, 1st (today's Jyoichidan), Chunidan (Jyonidan), Shimonidan, Ka-hen, Sa-hen, and Na-hen, and five conjugation forms are set for each (there is nothing in the table that corresponds to today's imperative forms), with the ten, ni, wo, and ha that connect to each. It was a groundbreaking work in the history of conjugation research, as it was systematically organized based on the 50-sound chart, and later gave rise to the "Yatsumuku school." It can also be said that this book formed the basis for the conjugation tables in school grammar.

本居春庭著。2冊。文化3 (1806) 年成立。同5年刊。活用の研究書。活用の種類を，四段，一段 (いまの上一段) ，中二段 (上二段) ，下二段，カ変，サ変，ナ変とし，おのおの5つの活用形 (いまの命令形にあたるものは表になし) を設定して，それぞれに接続するテニヲハをあげている。五十音図に基づいて組織的に整理した，活用研究史上画期的なもので，のちに「八衢派」を生むことになった。また，学校文法の活用表の基礎も本書によってつくられたといえる。
