[Classification of menopausal disorders]
Menopausal symptoms are broadly classified into autonomic (vasomotor) symptoms, mental and neurological symptoms, and genital symptoms. Of these, the one that is most frequently reported and troubles patients is vasomotor symptoms. This is because the decline in ovarian hormones that occurs during menopause causes the brain's autonomic nervous system to malfunction, which is why menopausal symptoms are also called "blood path" symptoms.
