One of the architectural styles of ancient Greece. Unlike the preceding heavy Doric style, it has scroll-like decorations on the capitals, deep column grooves (24 grooves), and column bases. It reached its peak in the first century from the second half of the 5th century BCE, and is best known for the Erechtheion in Athens. It eventually gave way to the more ornate Corinthian style.
