Arashi Hinasuke

Japanese: 嵐雛助 - あらしひなすけ

Kabuki actor. It began when the first Arashi Koroku took the haiku name Suujiyo, given to him by the second Ichikawa Danjūrō, and used it as the stage name for his son, taking the Japanese reading. There have been 10 generations, of which the first and second are the most famous. (1) The first (1741-1796, Kanpo 1-Kansei 8): The biological son of the first Arashi Koroku (later the 5th Arashi San'emon), his childhood name was Iwajirō. His haiku names were Minshi and Nemushi. He made his debut at the Mimasuza Theater in Osaka in 1751 (Hōreki 1), and was called Hinasuke. In his youth he played female roles, and later switched to leading roles. He excelled in playing villains, but also excelled in sosamono (poetry), and in 1794 (Kansei 6) he rose to the unrivalled rank of the top in the three capitals.

歌舞伎俳優。初世嵐小六が，2世市川団十郎からもらった俳名雛助（すうじよ）を訓読みにして息子の芸名にしたのが始まり。10世まであり，初世と2世が有名。(1)初世(1741‐96∥寛保1‐寛政8)　初世嵐小六(後に5世嵐三右衛門)の実子で，幼名を岩次郎。俳名眠子（みんし），眠獅。1751年(宝暦1)大坂三桝座で初舞台，雛助を称す。青年期は女方，後に立役に転じ，公家悪を得意としたが，所作事にも秀で，94年(寛政6)には三都随一の無類の位にまで上った。
