Xun Yue

A scholar from the late Eastern Han Dynasty in China. He was from the Xun clan of Yingyin, Ying River (Changshe County, Henan Province), famous for its clear waters. He was a cousin of Xun Yu, Cao Cao's staff officer. His pen name was Zhongyu. He served as a lecturer to Emperor Xian as the Yellow Gate Minister and the Minister of the Interior. He wrote the chronological history book "Han Ji" (Records of the Han), which is an abbreviated version of Ban Gu's "Book of Han," and he devoted himself to providing commentary based on historical facts. His views on politics and on the health of immortals are also stated in "Shen Jian."

中国、後漢(ごかん)末の学者。清流として有名な潁川潁陰(えいせんえいいん)（河南省長社県）の荀氏の出身。曹操(そうそう)の参謀、荀彧(じゅんいく)の従兄弟(いとこ)。字(あざな)は仲豫(ちゅうよ)。献帝の黄門侍郎や侍中として侍講の役を務めた。班固(はんこ)の『漢書』を簡略にした編年体の史書『漢紀』を著し、史実に即しての論評に力を注いだ。また政治についての抱負や神仙養生に関する見解は『申鑒(しんかん)』に述べられている。
