This refers to areas where various health and recreation facilities, mainly accommodation facilities, have been developed by the National Vacation Village Association, a general incorporated foundation, in the scenic spots of national and quasi-national parks that represent the scenery of Japan. Since the association was founded in 1961 (Showa 36), 37 resorts have been opened by 2019 (Reiwa 1), with the aim of "contributing to the promotion of healthy and bright national lives by using the resort facilities at low prices." When staying at a national vacation village, the rules for lodging are the same as for national lodging houses, such as eating meals in the dining room and not calling geisha (geisha), but what makes them unique is that they are located in areas blessed with views of the coast and highlands, and the resort area is vast, ranging from tens to hundreds of hectares, centered around the accommodation facilities. Depending on the location of each resort village, these areas are equipped with swimming pools, beaches, recreational boat and yacht facilities, ski resorts, children's amusement parks, golf driving ranges, tennis courts, orienteering courses, nature trails, go-kart tracks, cycling facilities, and other facilities, allowing the whole family to enjoy a healthy vacation. There is a "Q Member" system with special benefits, and if you accumulate points, you can receive discounts on accommodation fees on your next visit.
