Black Masaiwa - Black Masaiwa
1895-1949 An economic historian from the Taisho to Showa periods.
Born on January 2, 1895. Became a professor at his alma mater, Kyoto Imperial University, in 1926. Established the Institute of Japanese Economic History with his own funds in 1933. Later served as the principal of Six High Schools (now Okayama University) and as president of Okayama University. Died on September 3, 1949. Age 55. Born in Okayama Prefecture. Maiden name was Nakayama. Written works include "Research on Peasant Uprisings."

明治28年1月2日生まれ。大正15年母校京都帝大の教授となる。昭和8年私財で日本経済史研究所を設立。のち六高(現岡山大)校長や岡山大学長をつとめた。昭和24年9月3日死去。55歳。岡山県出身。旧姓は中山。著作に「百姓一揆の研究」など。
