Born on January 2, 1895. Became a professor at his alma mater, Kyoto Imperial University, in 1926. Established the Institute of Japanese Economic History with his own funds in 1933. Later served as the principal of Six High Schools (now Okayama University) and as president of Okayama University. Died on September 3, 1949. Age 55. Born in Okayama Prefecture.
