…German atomic physicist. Son of biochemist Albrecht Kossel (1853-1927), who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1910 for his research on nuclear proteins. After receiving his doctorate from the University of Heidelberg in 1911, he studied under AJ Sommerfeld at the University of Munich, and in 1913 he began working at the Technical University of Munich. Since 1921 he has served as professor at the universities of Kiel, Danzig, and Tübingen. He developed N.
