The German East Africa (now Tanzania) rebellion was launched in 1905-07 by the indigenous people of southern Tanzania against the colonial authorities. It was the first ethnic movement in Tanzania's history to oppose German colonial policies such as forced cotton cultivation and heavy taxes. Over a dozen tribes, including the Ngoni, Mbunga, Mwera, Sagara, Zaramo, Matumbi, and Pogoro, participated in the rebellion in an area of 160,000 km2 between Dar es Salaam and Kilosa in the north and Lukredi and Songea in the south. During the course of the struggle, tribal alliances also emerged.

1905‐07年，ドイツ領東アフリカ(現，タンザニア)南部の原住民が植民地当局に対して起こした反乱。綿花の強制栽培，重税などのドイツの植民地政策に反対したタンザニア史上初の民族運動で，北ではダル･エス･サラームとキロサを，南ではルクレディとソンゲアをそれぞれ結ぶ線の内側16万km2の範囲で，ヌゴニ，ムブンガ，ムウェラ，サガラ，ザラモ，マトゥンビ，ポゴロなど十数部族が反乱に参加した。闘争の過程では部族連合的な形態も出現した。
