<br /> The remains of an ancient battlefield in Sakaemachi, Toyoake City, Aichi Prefecture. The designated name is "Legendary Site of the Okehazama Battlefield, with the Tomb of the Warriors." In 1560 (Eiroku 3), Imagawa Ujizane and Yoshimoto of Suruga led a large army and invaded Owari, but Oda Nobunaga of Owari defeated them with an army that was said to be one-tenth the size of the Imagawa's. The legendary site of the ancient battlefield is a little south of the Tokaido road that connected Kutsukake Castle, the base of the Imagawa side, and Narumi Castle at the time of the battle, but it is in a corner of the valley leading to Narumi Castle. The Shincho Koki records that Imagawa Yoshimoto set up his headquarters at Mount Okehazama, but the exact location of Mount Okehazama is still unclear. The site was designated a national historic site in 1937 ( Showa 12 ), and includes a stone monument marking the spot where Yoshimoto died in battle, his grave, the grave of his senior vassal Matsui Munenobu, and a memorial monument lamenting the neglect of the old battlefield. The Battlers' Tomb was ordered by the priest Kaiou Ryuki of Sogenji Temple to collect and bury the corpses of those killed in battle. It is said to have once been called Suruga Tomb, and the monument on top of the mound was erected in 1739 ( Genbun 4) for the 180th anniversary of their deaths. It is about a 2-minute walk from Chukyo Keibajo-mae Station on the Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line.

愛知県豊明市栄町にある古戦場跡。指定名称は「桶狭間古戦場伝説地附戦人塚(つけたりせんにんづか)」。1560年（永禄3）、大軍を率いて尾張に侵攻した駿河の今川氏真・義元に対して、尾張の織田信長がその10分の1ともいわれる軍勢で今川軍を破った桶狭間の戦い。その古戦場の伝説地は、今川方の拠点である沓掛(くつかけ)城と鳴海(なるみ)城を結ぶ合戦当時の東海道からはやや南に離れているが、鳴海城方面に通じる谷筋の一角にある。『信長公記(しんちょうこうき)』では今川義元が「桶狭間山」に本陣を構えたと記録されているが、「桶狭間山」の位置はいまだ不明確であり、義元が戦死した場所を示す石碑や義元の墓、重臣松井宗信の墓、古戦場が放置されているのを嘆く弔古碑など、いずれも江戸時代になって石碑などが建てられた場所が、1937年（昭和12）に国の史跡に指定された。戦人塚は曹源寺の快翁龍喜和尚が命じて戦死者の屍(しかばね)を集めて葬った塚で、かつては「駿河塚」と呼ばれていたと伝えられ、塚上の碑は1739年（元文4）の180回忌の供養祭に建立されたものという。名鉄名古屋本線中京競馬場前駅から徒歩約2分。
