Amyl alcohol

Japanese: アミルアルコール(英語表記)amyl alcohol
Amyl alcohol
Chemical formula: C 5 H 12 O. There are eight isomers, each of which has a distinctive odor and is colorless, depending on the way the carbon atoms are connected and the position of the OH. n -amyl alcohol (boiling point 137°C), sec -amyl alcohol (118.5°C), tert -amyl alcohol (102°C), isoamyl alcohol (132°C), sec -isoamyl alcohol (110-112°C), activated amyl alcohol (128°C), diethyl carbinol (115.5°C), neopentyl alcohol (113°C). Fermented amyl alcohol, the main component of fusel oil, is a mixture of isoamyl alcohol and activated amyl alcohol, and is a liquid with a distinctive unpleasant odor. Of the above compounds, sec -isoamyl alcohol and activated amyl alcohol molecules have asymmetric carbon atoms, and the compounds exhibit optical isomerism.
