Korea Land Survey Project

Japanese: 朝鮮土地調査事業 - ちょうせんとちちょうさじぎょう

Surveys and measurements of land ownership, price, topography, and geography were carried out in the early stages of the colonization of Korea. The Government-General of Korea took over the land survey work that had been carried out just before the Japan-Korea Annexation (1910), and immediately after the annexation established the Provisional Land Survey Bureau, and in 1912 promulgated the High Land Survey Committee System and Land Survey Order, and began full-scale survey work. The entire project was completed in November 1918, with over 19.01 million plots surveyed at a cost of 24.56 million yen. As a result, ownership of all land was confirmed except for forests and land (survey work was completed in 1922), and taxable land increased by 52%, as shown in the table.

朝鮮の植民地化初期に行われた土地の所有権，価格，地形，地貌などの調査･測量事業。朝鮮総督府は，日韓併合(1910)直前からの土地調査事業をうけつぎ，併合直後に臨時土地調査局官制，1912年に高等土地調査委員会官制･土地調査令を公布して本格的に調査事業を行った。18年11月に全事業が完了し，調査筆数は1901万余筆，費用は2456万円に達した。その結果，林野(調査事業は22年完了)を除いてすべての土地の所有権が確定し，課税地も表のように52％増大した。
