German Common Law - German Common Law
Gemeines Recht. Roman law inherited in Germany since the 15th and 16th centuries. It was valid throughout the country until the unified German Civil Code came into force in 1900. It is in opposition to the local special laws which were Germanic law. Its content can be said to be a modernized Roman law.
