Gas alarm - Gas alarm

Gas alarm - Gas alarm
A device that automatically lights up a danger sign or sounds an alarm when gas at a concentration above a specified level is generated or flows. Methane gas alarms are used in coal mines, and there are both fixed and portable types. There are various operating methods, including (1) an interferometer type (a photoconductive cell receives the movement of interference fringes and automatically sounds an alarm electrically), (2) a hot wire combustion meter type (an alarm is automatically sounded by the change in electrical resistance caused by catalytic combustion of gas), (3) a thermal conductivity meter type (a thermistor or a thermal conductivity meter using a metal element), and (4) a density difference meter type (a density difference caused by gas concentration).
