High voltage line

Generally, it refers to a power transmission line used for high voltages of several hundred to several thousand volts. However, the Electrical Equipment Technical Standards of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry Ordinance No. 52 of 1997 stipulates that high voltage is an electrical facility whose voltage is between 600 and 7,000 volts for AC, and between 750 and 7,000 volts for DC.

Actual examples include high-voltage distribution lines (usually three lines, 6,600 volts, etc.) supported by insulators on the cross arm (wood) at the top of roadside utility poles in urban and suburban areas, and high-voltage underground cable wires that connect these overhead high-voltage wiring to the power receiving equipment of consumers, etc. Other examples include the contact wires of medium- and short-distance high-speed trains (wires that are stretched directly above the rails, 1,500 volts, etc.).

一般には、数百～数千ボルト程度の高圧電圧に用いる送電線路をいう。ただし、1997年（平成9）通商産業省令第52号の電気設備技術基準では、電気工作物の電圧が、交流では600ボルトを超え7000ボルト以下、直流では750ボルトを超え7000ボルト以下のものを高圧電圧と規定している。

　実例でみると、市街地や郊外の道路わき電柱の上部の腕金（木）に碍子(がいし)で支持されている高圧配電線（通常では3本で6600ボルトなど）や、この架空高圧配線から需要家などの受電設備まで引き込むための高圧地中ケーブル電線などがあげられる。このほか、中・短距離高速電車のトロリー線（軌条の真上に張られている電線で1500ボルトなど）などがある。
