Chinese Ming Dynasty politician. Born in Fen Yi County, Jiangxi Province. His courtesy name was Weizhong. He served under the two reigns of Emperor Wuzong (Zhengde) and Emperor Shizong (Jiajing), and was promoted to the position of Cabinet Grand Scholar. After 1549, he became the Chief Advisor and was in charge of government affairs. However, his political skills were not outstanding, and he curryed favor with the emperor, pursued his own interests, elevated private citizens, and framed opponents. His son, Shifan, also behaved tyrannically in many cases, and in his later years, the emperor's trust in him waned. When Zou Yinglong impeached Yan Song and his son, Shifan was executed, his status was stripped, and his property was confiscated. The enormous amount of gold, silver, and other treasures confiscated at this time shocked the public.

中国，明の政治家。江西省分宜県の人。字は惟中 (いちゅう) 。武宗 (正徳帝) ，世宗 (嘉靖帝) の2朝に仕え，累進して内閣大学士となり，嘉靖 28 (1549) 年以後は首輔として政務を専断した。しかし政治上の手腕にはみるべきものがなく，帝にこびて私利をはかり，私人を引上げ，反対者を罪に陥れた。子の世蕃もまた専横のふるまいが多く，晩年には帝の信頼も薄れ，鄒応龍が厳嵩父子を弾劾するに及んで，世蕃は処刑され，彼は身分を奪われ家財は没収された。このとき没収された金銀財宝の莫大なことは世人を驚かせた。
