A Protestant sect. It originated from Wesley's Awakening Movement and was officially established in 1795 when it separated from the Church of England. Its name comes from its motto, "Live according to the methods set forth in the Bible." In general, it has a strong social interest and is committed to education, social work, and foreign missions. It was introduced to Japan in 1873 by American Methodist missionary RS McCrea, and the Japan Methodist Church was established in 1907. It joined the United Church of Christ in Japan when it was established, and is responsible for running schools such as Aoyama Gakuin and Kwansei Gakuin. → Related topics Arminian | Holiness Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
