A Hindu pilgrimage site in the eastern part of Haryana, northwest India. It is said that the Aryans who invaded around 1500 BCE settled here and perfected Hindu culture. It is also famous as the site of the battle between the Kauravas and the Pandavas in the Mahabharata. To the north flows the Saraswati River, sacred to Hindus, and there are many pilgrimage sites in the surrounding area. Many pilgrims come to bathe in the large tanks during solar eclipses.
