An essay from the Edo period. Author unknown. Possibly written during the Meiwa era (1764-72). 1 volume. A record of the words and deeds of Ogyu Sorai (his alternate name was Kenen) and his disciples Dazai Shundai, Hattori Nankaku, Hirano Kinka, and others. Through many episodes, the book concretely depicts how the disciples were able to work freely and with their own unique personalities under Sorai's broad-minded and compassionate personality, conveying the true nature of the Sorai school, which left a major mark on the history of thought and literature in the mid-Edo period.
