Germanus

Japanese: ゲルマヌス(英語表記)Germanus
Germanus
A Christian saint who lived from about 378 to about 448. His French name was Saint-Germain. He was a nobleman from Auxerre in central France, and later became bishop of the city. In 429, he was sent to Britain to denounce the Pelagians. In Gaul, which was then being overrun by Germanic tribes, he sought to protect the people by petitioning the magistrates for tax cuts and negotiating with the Germanic tribes. He went to the Western Roman court in Ravenna around 445-450, probably in 448, to petition for a moderate response to the rebellion in Armorica, and died in the city after his petition was granted.
