1114-87 The greatest translator of Greek and Arabic scientific texts from Arabic to Latin in the 12th century. His Latin name was Gerardus. He is also called Herald in Spanish. He was born in Cremona, Italy, but went to Toledo, Spain, in search of Arabic learning. There, until his death, he translated as many as 87 works, including the first-class works of Aristotle, Euclid, Archimedes, Apollonius of Perga, Ptolemy, Galen, Khwarizmi, Farabi, Ibn Sina, and Ibn al-Haytham.
