Gasoline railcar - Gasorindosha

Japanese: ガソリン動車 - がそりんどうしゃ
Gasoline railcar - Gasorindosha

...A general term for railroad cars that can carry passengers or luggage and move on their own, excluding electric trains, and broadly including control cars and trailer cars that do not have a power unit that run in conjunction with them. There are steam railcars that use steam engines as their prime movers, gasoline railcars that use gasoline engines, gas railcars that use gasoline engines but also use charcoal gas as fuel, diesel railcars (diesel cars) that use diesel engines, and gas turbine railcars that use gas turbines. Of these, all but steam railcars are sometimes collectively called internal combustion railcars. There are also three types of power transmission methods to the wheels: mechanical, which drives the wheels via a clutch and gears, electric, which uses a generator driven by the prime mover to turn an electric motor and drive the wheels via a reduction gear, and hydraulic, which drives the wheels via a fluid transmission.
