Repentance Manners - Kekasahou
The name of a Buddhist memorial service. A memorial service to repent the mistakes of people in the world and pray for peace in the future. There are various types of memorial services, such as Yakushi Kaiga, Amida Kaiga, Eleven-headed (Kannon) Kaiga, Nyoirin (Kannon) Kaiga, Kissho Kaiga, and Shari Kaiga, depending on the main deity, but the structure of these memorial services has many commonalities. It is held as a Buddhist ceremony to welcome spring during the lunar New Year, which corresponds to the second month of the lunar month, and is usually held as a Shusho-e or Shunie memorial service, and is often held over several days or several times a day. The largest is the Shunie service at Todaiji Temple, which is held over 14 days from the seventh day of the first month to the seventh day of the second month, and involves six repentance rituals each day, corresponding to the six hours of the day, sunset, first night, midnight, later night, and morning.

仏事の法要名。世の人々の過ちを悔い,今後の平安を祈る法要。主尊の違いによって,薬師悔過,阿弥陀悔過,十一面(観音)悔過,如意輪(観音)悔過,吉祥悔過,舎利悔過などの種類があるが,その法要の構成には共通する部分が多い。旧正月,旧2月に当たる時期に春迎えの仏事として行われ,修正会(しゆしようえ)・修二会(しゆにえ)の法要としてつとめるのが普通で,数日にわたり,また1日数回にわたる例が多い。もっとも大規模なのは東大寺の修二会で,上七日(じようしちにち)・下七日(げしちにち)の14日間にわたり,毎日6回,日中・日没(にちもつ)・初夜・半夜・後夜・晨朝(じんぢよう)の六時に相当する悔過作法が行われる。
