A general term for frogs of the Hylidae family, including the Japanese tree frog and the southern tree frog Litoria , which are known as good examples of protective coloration. There are about 719 species in 39 genera that are distributed all over the world except for sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar, and most live in the rainforests of tropical America. In general, many tree frogs are arboreal species, with well-developed suckers on each finger of their limbs that are suited to living on leaves and grass. They have protective coloration that allows them to skillfully change their body color according to changes in the environment. Their vocal sacs are located under their throats and swell up, and their name comes from the various cries they make in different places.
