Etruscan Sarcophagus - Etruria no sekkan

...The tombs of the Scipio family and their sarcophagi are good examples of those belonging to aristocrats under the Roman Republic after the 3rd century BC. Other well-known examples around Rome include the Etruscan sarcophagus (around the 6th century BC) with a reclining couple carved into the lid, and the Apostles' Sarcophagus (5th century) in Arles, France, which, following the spread of Christianity, is based on the Bible and the Passion of Christ. In Western Asia, the kings of the Achaemenid Empire of Persia, including Darius I, built cruciform rock-cut tombs around Persepolis, where the sarcophagi were carved into the tomb chambers carved into the rock walls.
