Japanese: ケイ素樹脂(珪素樹脂) - けいそじゅし（英語表記）silicone resin

An organosilicon polymer. It is also called silicone. By changing the R, R' or the degree of polymerization n shown in the chemical formula, it can be variously changed into an oil-like form (silicone oil), a rubber-like form (silicone rubber), or a resin-like form (silicon resin in the narrow sense, silicone resin). The central element, silicon, is expressed as silicon. Silicon resins are characterized by not containing carbon in the main chain, but being composed of silicon-oxygen bonds (siloxane bonds), and generally have flexible molecular chains and relatively high heat resistance (maximum 250°C).

有機ケイ素重合物。シリコーンともいう。化学式に示したR,R′あるいは重合度nを変えることによって，油状(シリコーン油)，ゴム状(シリコーンゴム)，樹脂状(狭義のケイ素樹脂，シリコーン樹脂)と多様に変化する。なお中心元素であるケイ素はシリコンsiliconと表現される。　ケイ素樹脂は主鎖に炭素を含まず，ケイ素‐酸素結合(シロキサン結合)から成り立っているのが特徴であり，一般に分子鎖は柔軟で，かつ耐熱性が比較的高い(最高250℃)。
