Major underground shopping malls include Aurora Town (Sapporo, 29,356 m2), Yaesu Underground Mall (Tokyo, 69,183 m2), Shinjuku West Exit Underground Mall (Tokyo, 29,650 m2), Yokohama Station East Exit Underground Mall (Yokohama, 66,965 m2), Eska (Nagoya, 29,150 m2), Umeda Underground Center (Osaka, 31,705 m2), Minami Underground Mall Niji no Machi (Osaka, 36,474 m2), Sanchika Town (Kobe, 18,210 m2), Okayama Ichibangai (Okayama, 24,771 m2), and Tenjin Underground Mall (Fukuoka, 33,510 m2). Construction of underground shopping malls is not as popular in other countries as it is in Japan.
