Keisei Yamato Soushi

Japanese: けいせい倭荘子 - けいせいやまとそうし

Kabuki Kyogen. Historical piece. Six acts. Written by the first Namiki Gohei. Commonly known as "The Butterfly's Journey." First performed in leap January 1784 (Tenmei 4) at the Osaka Arashi Tanjinza (the middle play). The cast included Kitabatake Yukienosuke and Yamato no Sakuni played by Arashi Sangoro II, Yayoihime and Imouto Komaki played by Sawamura Kunitaro I, and Koshino Kanzaemon I played Onoe Shinshichi. This is an expanded version of "Boushu Yuunae Uchi no Matsu," a dramatization of the story of the Sanjusangendo archery saga of real-life archers Hoshino Kanzaemon and Wasa Daihachiro, with the addition of a story about the murder of a younger sister that took place in Okazaki, Kyoto, during the Meiwa era (1764-72).

歌舞伎狂言。時代物。6幕。初世並木五瓶作。通称《蝶の道行》。1784年(天明4)閏1月大坂嵐他人座(中の芝居)初演。配役は北畠靫負之介（ゆきえのすけ）･大和の佐国を2世嵐三五郎，弥生姫･妹小槙を初世沢村国太郎，越野勘左衛門を初世尾上新七など。実在した弓の名手星野勘左衛門と和佐大八郎の三十三間堂の通し矢の話を劇化した《防州苗打松（ぼうしゆうなえうちのまつ）》を増補し，これに明和年間(1764‐72)京の岡崎に起きた妹殺し事件を借りて加えたもの。
