Order Crocodylia, family Crocodylidae. A relatively large crocodile that can reach a body length of about 3.5 m. Its snout is quite long, about twice as wide at the base, and has a pointed tip. It also has no distinct ridges in front of the eyes. It lives in both freshwater and saltwater. It is widely distributed from southeastern North America to northwestern South America. ワニ目クロコダイル科。体長 3.5mほどになる比較的大型のワニ。吻はかなり長くて基部の幅の2倍ぐらいあり,先端がとがっている。また,眼の前にはっきりした隆条がない。淡水にも海水にもすむ。北アメリカ南東部から南アメリカ北西部にかけて広く分布する。
