Keisei-iro shamisen - Keisei-iro shamisen

Japanese: けいせい色三味線 - けいせいいろじゃみせん
Keisei-iro shamisen - Keisei-iro shamisen
A mid-Edo period Ukiyo-zoshi. Written by Ejima Kiseki. Published in 1701. Five volumes and five books. It consists of five stories about Kyoto, six stories about Osaka, five stories about Edo, four stories about the countryside, and four stories about the port. At the beginning of each volume, there is a list of courtesans. It is in the style of an actor's reputation record, "Yakusha-kuchi-shamisen," but many of the stories are rehashes of Saikaku's works. This is the first of the Yamozuya-hon Ukiyo-zoshi.
