Japan Association of Corporate Executives

A management organization founded in April 1946 (Showa 21). It is abbreviated as Doyukai. Since it started as a gathering of young managers who aimed to steadily restore the Japanese economy after World War II, its purpose is to contribute to the Japanese economy as economic professionals, and therefore it takes a non-political stance. All members are individuals, which makes it different from the former Japan Business Federation, the Japan Federation of Employers' Associations, and the Japan Business Federation, which was formed in May 2002 (Heisei 14) by merging the two. Although its activities have aspects of a management club that aim to exchange opinions and foster friendship among managers, it places great importance on building an ideology for managers as economic professionals, and expressing opinions and proposals on economic issues from the perspective of the national economy, and in these respects it has an extremely large influence. Its ideology and proposals have been said to be largely progressive in the business world, but in recent years, there has been criticism that the age composition of its members has increased and the traditions of the Doyukai have been diluted.

1946年（昭和21）4月に創立された経営者団体。同友会と略称される。第二次世界大戦後の日本経済の堅実な復興を目ざす当時の若手経営者の集まりから始まったため、その目的は、経済職能人として日本経済に寄与することに置かれ、したがって政治的無色をその立場としている。会員はすべて個人であり、この点でかつての経済団体連合会や日本経営者団体連盟、また、両者が統合して2002年（平成14）5月に誕生した日本経済団体連合会などとは異なる。活動内容は、経営者相互の意見交換と親睦(しんぼく)を目ざす経営者クラブ的な面もあるが、もっとも重視されているのは、経済職能人としての経営者のイデオロギーの構築、国民経済的立場からする経済問題に対する意見や提言の表明などであり、これらの点で影響力はきわめて大きい。イデオロギーや提言の内容は、財界では進歩的なものが多いといわれてきたが、近年、会員の年齢構成が高まり、同友会の伝統が希薄化したとの批判もみられる。
