Great Bear Lake

Japanese: グレート・ベア[湖](英語表記)Great Bear Lake
Great Bear Lake
A huge lake in the western Northwest Territories, Canada. Its area is 31,790 km2, its maximum depth is 411 m, and its surface is 119 m above sea level. Its northern part is in the polar region, just inside the Arctic Circle, and is surrounded by taiga or tundra. It is one of the great lakes on the edge of the Canadian Shield, and belongs to the Mackenzie River basin. Port Radium on the eastern shore is known as a uranium and silver mine. The lake's name comes from its enormous size and the bears that live in the shoreline. [Masai Yasuo]
