Great Basin

Japanese: グレート･ベースン（英語表記）Great Basin

A large, dry basin in the western United States. It is bounded by the Wasatch Mountains and Colorado Plateau in the east, the Columbia Plateau in the north, and the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the west, and spreads out in an inverted triangle shape, with the Mojave Desert occupying the southern tip. It includes most of Nevada and parts of Utah, California, Idaho, and Oregon, and has an area of about 500,000 km2. It is a collection of several fault mountain ranges and fault basins running north-south, and contains many deserts such as the Great Salt Lake Desert and Death Valley, and lakes such as the Great Salt Lake and Lake Utah.
