[Takasaki Castle Town]
A castle town in Kozuke Province and a post station on the Nakasendo road. In ancient times it was called Akasaka-no-sho, and from the Kamakura period onwards it was the castle site of the Wada clan. It was also a strategic location along the Kamakura Kaido road and was known as Wada-juku.
