Year of death: 4th April 20th, 1651 (6th June 8th, 1651) Year of birth: 1598 He was a kinshu shujin (attendant), senior councilor, and lord of Musashi Iwatsuki Domain (Iwatsuki City) in the early Edo period. He served as Yamashiro no Kami and Tsushima no Kami. He was the second son of Abe Masatsugu. His mother was the daughter of Sahara Yoshinari. He was initially adopted by Miura Shigenari and served Tokugawa Hidetada, successively serving as a kinshu (attendant). In 1628 (Kan'ei 5), he returned to the Abe position after his brother's death. He later served Iemitsu, and in 1629 (Kan'ei 6), he became the head clerk of the Kosei-gumi. In the following year, he was appointed to the Rokkuninshu along with Matsudaira Nobutsuna and his cousin Abe Tadaaki, and became a central figure in Iemitsu's administration as kinshu shujin (attendant), participating in the shogunate government. In the same year, he was frequently sent to Takasaki in Kozuke, where Iemitsu's younger brother Tokugawa Tadanaga was imprisoned, and drove Tadanaga to suicide. In 1632 (Kan'ei 7), he became the lord of Iwatsuki Castle, with a fief of 59,000 koku. In November of the same year, he became a senior councilor. In July 1648, he was awarded 99,000 koku including his father's estate. In the fourth year of the same year, he committed suicide following the death of Iemitsu. Although he did not achieve anything spectacular, he supported Iemitsu's administration from within and served him until the end. <References> "Iwatsuki City History" Domain Government Historical Materials Volumes 1 and 2, "Saitama Prefecture History" General History Volume 3 (Negishi Shigeo) Source: Asahi Japanese Historical Biography: Asahi Shimbun Publications Inc.
