Nine Classics

[1] A general term for nine classics of ancient China. In the "Hanshu - Yuwenzhi," it refers to the Book of Changes, Book of Documents, Book of Songs, Rites, Music Book, Spring and Autumn Annals, Confucius Analects, Book of Filial Piety, and Small Learning. There are other theories, but it usually refers to the Book of Changes, Book of Songs, and Poetry, as well as the Three Rites (Zhou Li, Yi Li, and Riji) and the Three Tunes of the Spring and Autumn Annals (Zuo Zhuan, Gongyang Zhuan, and Guliang Zhuan), which are listed in the Ming Jing Department of the Tang Dynasty's imperial examinations. [1] 古代中国の経書九種の総称。「漢書‐芸文志」では易経、書経、詩経、礼、楽経、春秋、論語、孝経、小学をいうが、その他諸説があり、通常は唐の科挙の明経科に示す、易、書、詩に三礼（周礼、儀礼、礼記）、春秋三伝（左伝、公羊伝、穀梁伝）を加えたものをいう。きゅうきょう。〔台記‐康治二年（1143）一二月七日〕[2] 〘名〙天下を治める九つの道。身を修め、賢を尊び、親に親しみ、大臣を敬い、群臣に交わり、庶民を子とし、百工を来たし、遠人を柔らげ、諸侯を手なずけること。※寸鉄録（1606）「以上の九経(キウケイ)、ひとつもかけてはあしからんぞ」〔礼記‐中庸〕
