This theory was put forward after World War II by the Austrian psychiatrist Frankl, known for his book Man's Search for Meaning. Its essence lies in analyzing the meaning and value of life while focusing on responsibility and ethics as the foundations of human existence, and logotherapy was born as a therapeutic philosophy based on this. Frankl asserts that the key concept is the "will to meaning," in contrast to S. Freud's "will to pleasure" and A. Adler's "will to power," and argues that if this is not met, an existential crisis or conflict with conscience, known as a "noogene neurose," will occur.
