Grysbok (English spelling)

Japanese: グリスボック（英語表記）grysbok

A mammal of the bovidae family in the order Artiodactyla. A type of small antelope with large, broad, pointed ears like a donkey. For antelopes, which generally have a slim build, this one has a thick body and short legs. Males have short horns measuring 7-8 cm in length. Its body length is 63-90 cm, its tail length 4-8 cm, and its weight 7-14 kg. Its body hair is long and reddish brown mixed with white hair, giving it the overall impression of a white head. The underside of its body is white. It is one of the few even-toed animals in southern South Africa that has survived extinction.

偶蹄目ウシ科の哺乳類。ロバのような幅広く，先のとがる大きな耳をもつ小型のアンテロープの1種。一般にスマートな体型をもつアンテロープ類としては，体軀（たいく）が太く脚が短い。雄は長さ7～8cmの短い角をもつ。体長63～90cm，尾長4～8cm，体重7～14kg。体毛は長く，赤みがかった茶色の毛に白色の毛が混じり，全体として白髪頭のような印象を与える。体の腹面は白色。南アフリカ南部で絶滅をまぬがれている数少ない偶蹄類。
