The highest peak in the Bhutan Himalayas, which occupies the northern part of the Kingdom of Bhutan. It is 7,554m above sea level. It means "peak of the Heavenly Emperor." It is also known as Künla Khari. British explorer JC White, who visited the area four times between 1905 and 1908, saw this mountain from afar, but it was not surveyed and shown on a map until 1922. Sasuke Nakao, who explored in 1958, confirmed that this mountain was in Tibetan territory. A. Gunther and others surveyed the mountain range in 1963 and 1965. In addition to the main peak, there is Peak II at 7,540m, Peak III at 7,531m, and Peak IV at 7,516m. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
